Obituary

Diane Ferne OKRAINETZ

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we share the news of the sudden passing of Diane Ferne Okrainetz on June 29th, 2020. Diane was a career educator. She taught in many elementary schools across Saskatoon, spending much of her time teaching kindergarten. In retirement, she continued her work in early childhood education through both music and movement. Diane had many passions and lived life to the fullest: she was an accomplished pianist and performer of Broadway musicals. She enjoyed traveling the world, performance arts, physical activity, and most of all her family and friends. She will be remembered as a champion of equality and one who strove to elevate culture and diversity both locally and far beyond. Diane now allows others to live their lives to the fullest through her generous act of organ donation. Diane is survived by loving husband Brent; cherished children Jonathan (Michele), Jillian (Andrew), and Jay (Hannah); devoted mother Edith Apps; and brother Ken Apps. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers consider making a donation to any organization involved in the arts.  Arrangements in care of Aimé Laventure – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200

I knew Dianne since Kindergarten in Montgormery. Dianne, Brad Ophiem, David Creelman and I all skipped grade 3 together. We grew apart over the years but I was always impressed at her energy and how full of life she was when we crossed paths. I still find it hard to believe she is gone. Far too soon.
