Lois McDonald died on February 1, 1977 after a courageous battle with cancer. Lois was an incredible person, she had a heart of gold, a giving spirit and an acceptance of everyone. Lois spent the summer of 1976 volunteering on a Youth Mission project in the United States. This Mission project had been a dream of hers for years and she was so grateful for having the opportunity. In the fall of 1976, Lois noted changes in her body and health, the diagnosis was cancer. Her faith, family and friends provided her with the strength she needed to face the challenges ahead. In the end, her deep faith and commitment to Christ provided her with comfort as she faced death at such a young age.

My life was forever changed 31 years ago. Lois was a great friend, we grew up across the back lane from each other and spent many moments dreaming about the future, talking, laughing and just having fun. Lois was genuine, caring, accepting, giving and loyal. She believed that God had a plan for her and when she was diagnosed with cancer, this was just part of the plan. Lois touched many lives in her 16 years and I will be forever grateful that I had the pleasure of having Lois as my friend.

Lois, I have not forgotten you, I think of you often, your life will always be an inspiration to me.
Love you always, Donna (Klassen) Petri

I met Lois in our grade 9 year at Mount Royal. We became very good friends and our friendship ended all to soon in February of 1977. Lois remains a person that after all these years still leaves a lasting memory. Her passion for life, her love of people and her incredible faith were such a blessing to all she knew. She only lived 16 years but had what many strive a lifetime to find.
