BECKIE--It is with great sadness we announce the death of Gary Lawrence Beckie, age 41 of Highlands Ranch, Co., on Wednesday, November 14th, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Gary is survived by his wife of 18 years Sheila (Brennan); children Alysha 14, Drew 11, Jenelle 8, Janine 7; his parents Margaret Ann and Lawrence Beckie of Kenaston, Saskatchewan; and six brothers and sisters. Gary was born in Davidson, Saskatchewan on May 19th, 1960 and resided in the Kenaston area until 1977 when he moved to Saskatoon to attend Mount Royal High School. After graduating in 1978, Gary pursued his BSPE at the University of Saskatchewan, completing it in 1983. During this time he was a 5 year member of the Huskie Men's Basketball Team. In April 1983, he married Sheila Brennan and moved to Regina to begin a career with Sask Sport Inc. Gary returned to the U of S to complete a MBA in 1990 and was hired by the Rydberg Levy Group. His consulting career saw him travel throughout Canada, the USA and internationally, finally relocating to Denver in 1993 where he resided until his death. Gary was an avid athlete who competed intensely as a member of the Shamrock Sports Men's Club in basketball, slow pitch and football. He loved to golf, fish, read and do home projects in his spare time. Gary devoted countless hours and weekends to many men's groups speaking at retreats and directing personal growth work. This fulfilled his life mission "to co-create a healing world by speaking my truth and sharing my love." Gary's greatest joy and passion was spending time with his family as a devoted husband and loving Dad. He will be forever remembered for his awesome smile and the twinkle in his eye. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all of their Canadian family and friends for their constant prayers, e-mails, cards, calls and letters throughout Gary's illness.
